• Using the studied topic of consumerism/capitalism and the complications of globalization, I will be exploring how globalization has impacted the fashion industry, small designers, the pollution and the world in general. In addition, I will be looking at how big brands take profit from emerging designers and the relationship of fast fashion vs fashion designer houses and small businesses. Since globalization means creating and exchanging goods at a faster paste, it is the creator of fast fashion. Fast fashion has become the biggest polluter on earth, therefore being a complication of globalization. However, it’s not the only thing it has affected. The globalized fashion industry has created multiple competitions related to profit and consumerism which multiplied labor exploitation, mass production and taken profits from small emerging designers. I believe it is an interesting topic to explore since it will educate people on the disadvantages of globalization in the fashion industry. A lot of people are aware of how mass production is a factor of pollution and for many it seems to be a trend to engage in being sustainable. Nonetheless, they don’t understand the reasons behind it, for this reason, my blog is created to let people know what’s really happing behind the scenes of fast fashion and behind the creation of what they’re wearing.
